I read an article recently which said that branding is a luxury for small businesses.
I quote:
"So many of my company’s clients want to brand themselves–to be known in a sea of competitors as the best. And while this is certainly possible, it takes deep pockets and lots of time — something most small businesses don’t have.
And so I say that branding is a luxury…

These concepts were shown to the client for a 26-Unit contemporary townhouse development in Canada.
The first three logo concepts are the final designs that the client chose. I gave them all three color versions because they were a bit undecided on what colors they liked best.
The next few designs are the drafts I presented to the client.

This is one of the first logo “contests” that I won! It is so exciting to see the logo ‘in action’ once again.
After getting some feedback from peer designers, I have come up with these to designs.. Still trying to decide between the two..
I don’t really like my “new” logo, so it is back to my old and and I am going to try to revamp it. I am currently taking a Studio Maintenance class and am learning a lot about self-branding and understand myself as a designer. We have to come up with a personal logo and I went with using the old one, this helped me come up with a better meaning of what the logo mean.
-I used the brackets because when brackets are used, they are used clarify and emphasize certain words in a sentence. I interpreted that to mean Sarah decker: graphic design will help clarify and bring emphasis to a clients’ vision.)
-I also came up with another symbol, but to be honest, it is completely random and I don’t really have a great meaning behind it except the fact that I think it looks good. A good design has a good concept and is balanced with a well thought out design, and for the second logo, I don’t think I really accomplished that. The way I created the logo was using “{” symbol and a circle and combined the two using the minus from pathfinder command.

- I wanted to just have my name rather than considering myself a “company” like it was with the Sarah Designs. Having Sarah Decker- Graphic Design, it’ll allow me to use that on a portfolio with out having to change the brand back and forth with Sarah Designs.
